» If you are using Microsoft Outlook after installing Windows 7 or Vista, you may get an error: WAB.DLL is missing or corrupt or An error occurred while attempting to open the WAB. Unable to find the WAB.DLL.

This usually happens when opening Outlook, or trying to use the Address Book. To solve this problem, try the following steps:

1. Navigate to Computer then C:\Program Files\Common Files\System.
2. Hold down the CTRL button while clicking on the files wab32.dll and wab32res.dll.
3. Hold down CTRL and press C to Copy the files to the clipboard.
4. Close the window and navigate to Computer then C:\Windows\System32
5. Hold down CTRL and press V to Paste the files into the folder.

Try Outlook now and see if you have better luck.

Or if WAB.DLL is missing or corrupt error is caused by the virus like Trojan:Win32/Simda.R, you may firstly remove the virus by an anti-virus program on your side, and then you need to repair many other dll files, which are damaged or corrupted in the virus removal. You can switch to Corp/Workgroup mode or you can move the WAB files and register them but there may be other issues - upgrading Office or using Windows Live Mail is recommended. (Live Mail supports spell check as you type and a calendar.)

  3. CHARLES MOLKENTINE replied on February 16, 2013: » Yes, outlook 2000 is the problem. As i mentioned in my earlier post, if you switch to workgroup mode the error should go away. Seehttp://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista.htm for more information.

Only caveat is, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 users should copy the files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System to C:\Windows\System.
