Halo 2 & Mfplat.dll File Missing Error

» I am trying to run Halo 2 on my new PC. OS is windows 7 ultimate n 64bit. The game installs properly and is registered. When I start the game I am told the mf.dll and mfplat.dll files are missing. I have downloaded both from and installed them in my system 32 file and in the halo 2 file. The message I now get is that a specific command is missing from the mfplat.dll file.

» mfplat.dll is a Media Foundation Platform DLL belonging to Windows Operating System. It appears to be limited to Windows Media Player. mfplat.dll is missing on 'N' versions of w7, it is normally brought in the pc when Windows media player and windows media center are regularly installed. It is said that the MFPlat.dll can be replaced by installing the Media Feature Pack.

A Dynamic Link Library (DLL) is a file of code containing functions that can be called from other executable code (either an application or another DLL). Programmers use DLLs to provide code that they can reuse and to parcel out distinct jobs. Unlike an executable (EXE) file, a DLL cannot be directly run. DLLs must be called from other code that is already executing.

Another way of putting it is that DLL files are like modules that can be plugged into different programs whenever a program needs the particular features that come with the DLL. For example, most programs need to create the graphical interface that appears on the screen. Instead of having to contain the code to create the interface themselves, programs call on a DLL for that function. The idea is to have a central library where everyone can obtain the commonly used functions, as they are needed. They are called dynamic links because they are put to use only when a program calls on them and they are run in the program's own memory space. More than one program can use the functions of a particular DLL at the same time.

And therefore, a dll file error is often complicated and relates to many aspects. To deal with such situation, DLL Suite is presented for the best choice to get rid of all DLL problems!

Download DLL Suite, install and run > Click Dashboard menu and > Click Scan DLL Errors button > Click Fix DLL Errors button after the scan. And all the problems directly associated with LXCFtime.dll file are fixed, because of the built-in feature of Fix Dll Errors in the Dashboard menu.

  2. TONY MURPHY replied on January 2, 2013: » I followed the instructions to re-register the files and got the following message for nf.dll: The module mf.dll failed to load. make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.the module could not be found.

the message for mfplat.dll was the same. I applied the patch as suggested and got the previous answer to the effect that the .dll file was missing.

  3. JOHN MIKE replied on January 3, 2013: » if you take the mf.dll and mfplat.dll files from your system32 folder and copy them to the halo 2 folder, it should fix that problem. It fixed the mfplat problems for me, but now it says there's already a LIVE application playing and needs to be closed even though I don't have anything running.

JON EASTMEAD replied on January 4, 2013: » i'm not useing mfplat.dll for games. but i used for movie maker. when i open the movie maker the response is "the procedure entry point mfunlockworkqueue could not be located in the dynamic link library MFPlat.DLL". so what should i do ?? Is it a problem with Trojan:Win32/Aksula.B?
