Winlogon.exe Not Valid Application At Startup

» I ended up booting the computer with a CD and then doing a system restore to a previous date. The culprit was an install of a trial Microsoft Office Suite. I then ran a full scan and all seems to be well. Thank you for the assistance.

» Winlogon.exe application errors can happen for a number of reasons, usually as a result of virus(Exploit:Java/CVE-2011-3521!jar), Trojan or other kind of malware infection or system file damage due to faulty hardware, especially RAM [Random access memory or hard drive.

Winlogon.exe is a crucial system component that handles the login and logout procedures so such errors can completely disrupt the stability of your computer. The winlogon.exe process can be a system resource, but it's a common target for various trojans and worms. The one I've experienced (from clicking a link, of all things) was the Vundo worm, but there are many many others. Typically, the virus/trojan one will be in a directory other than the System directory, like in Documents and Settings.

Fortunately, here is a program for you to scan the computer for , Winlogon.exe Virus infection and fix related error. Download DLL Suite and run it, click Scan DLL Errors button, click Fix DLL Errors button after the scan, it will automatically analyze the error and remove Winlogon.exe virus infection for you.

Why not choose an automatic Winlogon.exe repair tool like DLL Suite? It is able to fix the related errors with ease by replacing your missing/obsolete files with latest, clean and up-to-date ones. With regular use, it also enhances performance, stops computer crashing and make your PC faster.

Method 2: If the issue does not persist in Safe Mode with Networking, then put the computer in a clean boot state and check if the issue persists. Putting your system in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
    b. Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue
    c. At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:
    sfc /scannow
